My entire life I have struggled much with rhythm. I am trying to learn to count in complex meter and just want to verify I am doing this right.

I have here this song "Tocattina" by "Mouse on the Keys." I can count to it in a pattern of 1,2,1,2,1,2,3 . I believe this is 7.8 time but I am still very new to this. Can someone please verify that this song is indeed in 7/8 time?

It's in a 4/4 time sig, but with what I call a 'Humpty Dumpty' rhythm - a triplet feel. could be written 12/8, or in this case, 24/8.

A 7/8 time signature would mean you're counting 7 times to the beat and the melody repeats and the 8 means eighth notes. The song in the video is in 4/4.

This song is in 4/4 time... or common time... if you latch on to the rhythm section its very straightforward to count 1234 1234...

Hope this helps.
