Many seasonal songs were written using meantone. What is it that makes them specifically sound that way?

Whereas in 12tet they sound very different?

Examples will help the understanding. Simple music on the theme of Christmas & Advent that will go well with a meantone-tuned pipe organ would be welcome too.

I will play a one-manual organ (and no pedals) tuned in meantone and I am looking for songs that I can play there. I assume something from the Baroque period would work nicely, but I am open for any recommendations.

  • Sadly, as it stands, this question may well be closed - asking for song recommendations is out of bounds! If it coud be re-phrased somehow, shining more light on how meantones have influenced certain songs, it could survive.
