I was wondering if there's a way to have a button (preferably a button I could send a midi signal to activate it) that picks a random synth from all the current synths I have in Logic? If not Logic than Mainstage?

context: I'm doing some live music stuff and I don't want to use the mouse/screen each time I'm choosing instruments.

You really want random? Or you want to be able to assign a key to each syth so you can control them like a pedal bored? – b3ko Dec 13 '19 at 16:01
  • random because I'm just jamming. what do you mean assign a key to each synth? you mean a key that starts it? I just want to be able to either randomly, or go through each synth one by one as I play. like have a midi button to do this on my controller. – user34288 Dec 13 '19 at 16:09
  • Oh man, you need Ableton Live. It is designed for that kind of things. – piiperi Reinstate Monica Dec 13 '19 at 17:01

I did this by going:

Option-K to Key Commands. And assigning either keyboard or midi key to "Next Patch, Plugin-Setting or EXS instrument." also there's a "Previous Patch, Plugin-Settings or EXS instrument". It's currently set to use keyboard square brackets [ ] to cycle through instruments. It's not random but it's good enough for now.
