@Tetsujin, maybe you should say "things irrelevant to just a pianist." There are many pianists, myself included, that sometimes want to make use of other aspects that digital pianos can provide because we are doing other things as well, like writing music.
@CarlWitthoft, my husband teaches classical guitar and starts kids on the first string, but other people on this site start their students on the 6th string, and I want to know why. I thought the answer would be helpful to many, not just me.
@Tim, yes that is true about the bass notes (I am quite familiar with classical guitar music as I live with two classical guitarists), but even so...beginners are not going to just play bass lines, and it will take some time before they get to two or more voices.
@DoktorMayhem, my husband teaches guitar. I asked him what the first string taught (and he uses a curriculum) was, and he said the thinnest string. I also do not understand what you mean by not the 1st arrived at since it is closest to the first finger. Please explain. I suppose which string is first taught is dependent on which book one is using. I assumed (I guess wrongly) that this was standard.
@tony, when a certain voice range is specified, the staves are labeled such. If it is vaguely "Voice 1", "Voice 2", the voice range is not fixed. However, it is still important to look at the music. Sometimes Voice 1 is a little higher and Voice 2 a little lower and parts should be assigned to singers according to voice range.
