Perhaps looking at the mediant and submediant chordchords would provide more claritybetter clarify my question. In major and harmonicIf melodic minor thatis really used to generate chords the mediant would be Am7E♭+
andor as a functional Roman numeral A♭Δ7III+
respectively, but inIn melodic minor the submediant chord would be Am7♭5
or as a functional Roman numeral Aø7
.
I'm not asking if it's theoretically possible. Of course it's possible.
But I'm looking for either jazz compositions using melodic minor this way or confirmation that melodic minor is used to play overreal examples in jazz using such chords but not generate chords. I suspect they aren't used or are very rare.
