a beginner to fully installing ubuntu and finding it a bit difficult. first tried installing an old version of ubuntu (12.04), and the disc wasnt perfect. then tried downloading (good copy) of ubuntu 14.04 and tried to install from disc. i dont get any further than a txt mode boot. so i am hoping i can find a way to set ubuntu 14.04 to boot into graphicalmode as default.

secondly,when installing,i havnt a clue as to what server things to choose, ie: LAMP, SAMBA,DNS server etc. i am used to all this being done by defualt in windows.

so basically when i am asking questions,this gives you an idea of how much i DONT know. and many thanx to any helpers and advbisors already!
